Overview

Here, the timeline of the entire fiction of the American Wasteland story-universe is archived. This article includes everything you need to know about the American Wasteland story-universe.

Build-up to War

The events leading up to the War are still unclear.

The War

The details of the War are at this point are still hazy. When exactly the bomb was detonated is still unsure, though the episode MMXII suggests that it might have been in 2012. How long the War had been going on before that is unknown.

The Aftermath

The ultimate detonation set-off in the United States left lasting scars on the American landscape. Any buildings within 10 miles of ground zero show the evidence (Source). The area within 250 miles of the detonation is considered the Contaminated Zone, with the inner 90 mile radius carrying fatal radiation (Source).

Because the bomb detonated so close to Washington, D.C, with such little warning, the city was unable to be evacuated (from Prologue). Consequently, the entire American infrastructure collapsed and the country fell into complete anarchy.

American Wasteland

People ended up wandering alone or in small bands. With no government, the entire country became a wasteland, despite only a 500 mile wide area in the Northeast United States actually being irradiated. Vegetation and human structures survived, but were abandoned by their owners. Most people left their homes after the government fell apart because of mass looting and pillaging. Most homes and buildings now, outside of the contaminated zone (which is barely traveled, as a gas mask is required; from Photograph), are broken down from looters. Most bands or individuals will squat in abandoned buildings for shelter.

Water became an extremely coveted resource on the East Coast, because most of the water sources were contaminated. Water that was contaminated by direct radiation flowed out of the contaminated zone and consequently irradiated most of the water sources in the East. In order to find clean sources of water, survivors must go up into the mountains to find uncontaminated springs. Most springs are hard to find and difficult to get to (from Penance).

Because of the breakdown of society, the population had a decreased affect on the land itself, and so wildlife flourished (outside of the contaminated zone). This wildlife and the now abundant vegetation are the staple food sources for the survivors.
